Branding Team set to reveal branding concept

As part of the ongoing Branding project, members of the Branding Team met with the Branding Committee today to present the draft brand concepts they’ve developed. The concepts stem from months of consultations with Timmins residents. Since June 2012, the Branding Team has made use of social media, an online survey, the Timmins From the Heart event, focus groups and one-on-one interviews to collect community feedback. Overall, 400 Timmins residents chose to respond to the call for input.

During their meeting today with the Branding Committee, the Branding Team revealed three major themes from the feedback collected: resources, opportunities and lifestyle. Resources does not just refer to natural resources like mining and forestry, they said, but to water, clean air, open spaces, people, knowledge and skills. “These resources lead to opportunities,” said Glen Loo, Managing Principal of the firm facilitating the Branding project. “People come for the opportunities; they stay for the lifestyle.”

Now, the Branding Team is preparing to present a single branding concept to Council in December. Ultimately, it will be the community that decides which concept they will present. The Branding Team will meet with the original focus groups to test the concepts, and the participants will select the one they feel best represents Timmins and the message the community wants to convey. The results of these focus groups will be revealed during the Branding Team’s presentation to Council on December 17.
