One of the things people from nearly all sectors in the City said they wanted for Timmins was a community calendar. There are thousands of non-profit organizations, agencies, clubs, groups and businesses in our region, and most of them want to publicize a event or occasion at some point. A central community calendar would help organizations plan ahead, so that their event doesn’t conflict with others going on at the same time. It might also encourage tourists and visitors to stay another day if they could easily find out what’s happening in town. The Chamber of Commerce has launched the calendar already, at www.timminseventscalendar.ca. They’ll be hosting a workshop for anyone interested in learning how to optimize their use of the calendar for their own organization. For more information, call 705-360-1900.
