Council Receives Tourism Master Plan

Council has received the Tourism Master Plan. The plan will ensure commitment to the tourism industry in Timmins, and foster future tourism development.Over 500 tourist operators, stakeholders and residents provided feedback.

The long-term vision for tourism in Timmins is:

“A vibrant City with sustainable tourism products and experiences that provide a lasting legacy for tourists and quality of life for residents; in recognition of the fact that tourism is an engine for growth for Timmins’ overall economy.”

To achieve that long-term vision the mission will be:

“To increase overnight tourist visits and spending in Timmins, by enhancing the total year-round Timmins tourism experience through product development, marketing, investment and partnerships.

The main goals of the plan are to:

  • Build the capacity of local sports organizations to host and grow regional and provincial event
  • Expand conferences and tradeshows
  • Market and expand tourist packages with local recreation and adventure operators
  • Support tourist attractions like pow-wows, concerts, francophone events and multi-cultural festivals
  • Develop a database of Timmins specific promotional photographs

We hope to hear their decision by the end of summer.
