Culture Days Kicks off This Weekend

Culture Days are here and Timmins is joining in the fun! The three-day celebration of arts, culture and community will be kicking off at the Timmins Museum on Friday September 26th at 5pm.

Culture Days is a Canada wide volunteer driven initiative that focuses on increasing awareness, participation and engagement of Canadians in arts and culture in their communities. There will be lots of free interactive and “behind the scenes” activities which will show visitors the artistic spirit and passion that goes into art and culture in Timmins.

This year the festivities will include:

  • An open studio demonstrations on weaving and spinning by the Porcupine Handweavers & Spinners Guild.
  • A bannock-making workshop by the Ojibway Cree Cultural Centre.
  • A live jazz performance by U.S pianist Steve Kessler and friends at Christopher’s Coffee House.
  • Your chance to conduct the Timmins Symphony Orchestra at the Timmins Square.
  • A performance by Take Two Theatre of “Murder Afoot!”
  • An open studio with the Porcupine Art Club.

The three-day celebration is Timmins 2nd and is set to be the best one yet. The event calendar can be viewed here.

Culture Days Canada will see events being hosted all around the country from British Columbia to Ontario. For more information on Culture Days Canada visit their website.
