Culture, Tourism and Rec RFP released; housing RFP to follow

The City of Timmins has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) to hire consultants to develop the Culture, Tourism and Recreation Master Plan (CTRMP). The RFP was approved by Council on Monday after a presentation by members of Team 2020. The RFP, which is now available on the City of Timmins website, states that “the Master Plan should identify how to best use current and future resources, identify current and anticipated gaps, and chart the best path forward towards improving community wellbeing and pride, catalyzing economic growth and facilitating cultural, tourism and recreational opportunities.” The Master Plan will include distinct plans related to each sector: a Municipal Cultural Plan, a Tourism Strategy and a Recreation Master Plan. The closing date for the RFP is January 15, 2013.

Monday’s presentation also included a discussion of the ongoing Housing project. Earlier this month, Council was asked to consider whether or not they would approve funding to hire a consulting firm to conduct a Housing Inventory. Council unanimously approved the scope of work to be included in the RFP for the housing inventory, with consideration of funding waiting on cost projections. The Housing project RFP will be released before the holidays, with a closing date also in mid-January.

Both the CTR Team, with input from its subcommittees, and Housing Committee will select their consultants in early February 2013, with work to begin shortly thereafter.
