Culture, Tourism and Recreation Master Plan Update

Project Status Update as November 30, 2013

The following references the scheduled tasks outlined for each of the individual plans which comprise the Integrated Culture, Tourism and Recreation Master Plan.

Culture Master Plan:

The following tasks have been completed:

  • Task 1: Project Orientation/Start-up Meeting
  • Task 2: Develop Communications and Engagement Plan
  • Task 3: Background Analysis, Policy Context and Organizational Review
  • Task 4: Environmental Scan and Cultural Asset Identification (preliminary only prior to consultation)
  • Task 6: SWOT Analysis
  • Task 7: Prepare Interim Report
  • Task 8: Presentation of Interim Report Findings and Draft Database

The following tasks have commenced and are therefore ongoing:

  • Task 5: Community Engagement and Stakeholder/ Public Consultation
  • Task 9: Draft Culture Master Plan
  • Task 10: Review and Presentation of the Draft Culture Master Plan with Steering Committee, Senior City Staff, Council and the Public

Tourism Master Plan:

The following tasks have been completed in full:

  • Task 1: Project Orientation
  • Task 3: Review of Background Materials
  • Task 4: Overview of Tourism Organizational Structure
  • Task 5: Marketing Strategy Overview
  • Task 6: Market & Accommodation Overview
  • Task 7: Tourism Product Inventory, Number of Tourism Businesses and Employee
  • Task 9: Identification of Key Target Markets and Tourism Product & Experience Needs for RTO 13A
  • Task 10: SWOT Analysis
  • Task 11: Tourism Strategy Workshop
  • Task 12: Phase 1 Report

The following tasks have commenced and are therefore ongoing:

  • Task 8: Community and Stakeholder Input
  • Task 13: Recommended Tourism Strategy

Recreation Master Plan:

The following tasks have been completed in full:
  • Task 1: Start-up Meeting, Receipt of Materials and Confirmation of Scope 
  • Task 2: Develop Communications and Engagement Plan
  • Task 3: Assessment of Recreational Inventory (preliminary pending consultation input)
  • Task 4: Review of Timmins Existing Recreation Program & Service Delivery System
  • Task 5: Trends Analysis – Sports Participation in Timmins and Ontario
  • Task 6: Community and Stakeholder Consultation
  • Task 7: Prepare Interim Report
  • Task 8: Performance Standards and Best Practice
  • Task 9: Adoption of Future Recreation Standards
  • Task 10: Issue/Building Specific Needs Assessment
  • Task 11: Interim Reporting
  • Task 12: Presentation of Interim Report Findings and Draft Database
The following tasks have been commenced and are therefore ongoing:
  • Task 13: Draft Recreation Master Plan
  • Task 14: Implementation Plan
  • Task 15: Review and Presentation of the Draft Recreation Master Plan with Steering Committee, Senior City Staff, Council and the Public

  • The online surveys have all been closed off and the results are being analyzed
