On March 11, 2013, City Council voted in favour of contracting with Clark Marketing Communications for Phase II of the Branding project. Council cast the vote in response to a presentation made last week by a representative of the community-based Branding Committee. There were no local firms among the proposals submitted, however Clark Marketing Communications, which is based in North Bay, has sub-contracted with some Timmins businesses as part of their implementation plan.
Clark Marketing Communications will work under the guidance of the Branding Committee as they implement the new community brand for Timmins. The brand is based around “resources” and “opportunity” for Timmins. Their work will include creating new, unified marketing materials, graphics and other materials that local organizations can use in their own marketing efforts. The marketing firm will also oversee the development of way-finding signage throughout Timmins, which will help beautify the city and make it easier for visitors and residents to find points of interest. Residents requested community entrance signage during the strategic plan consultations, so that is part of this project, too.
The Branding project is meant to increase the appeal and competitiveness of Timmins by projecting a consistent, appealing message about the community. This in turn will help attract workers, residents, investors and visitors.
Marketing material production will begin immediately, with the expectation that some will be available in March or April 2013.
