The Working Class is a new music venue in the City and is the result of a collaborative effort between local promoter John Cayen and musician Krys Saudino. The venue is dedicated to live entertainment and features a stage that will be dedicated to different types of performers. There is a lack of suitable infrastructure in the City to accommodate live entertainment and this venue will fill that gap.
The vision of the Working Class aligns with the priorities of the Culture Master Plan because it works to increase the visibility of the music scene in Timmins by providing a friendly space for musicians to perform.
The venue was packed to capacity on opening day and has seen a steady stream of patrons in the days since. This widespread support demonstrates that people in Timmins are excited about re-building the music scene in our community and are eager to support new ventures. It also works to challenge the perception that Timmins is a last minute community that doesn’t support local ventures.
Cayen and Saudino are not wasting any time and are busy preparing for a slew of upcoming concerts that will see local acts take the stage alongside groups from Sudbury, Toronto, Montreal, and the Netherlands.
