In late 2012, the Timmins 2020 Steering Committee announced plans to complete a comprehensive housing study to identify gaps in Timmins’ housing stock. SHS Consulting, the consulting firm hired to complete the study, will conduct extensive research and develop a 20-year housing strategy to address local housing needs. The consultants will be guided by a community-based Housing Committee.
The housing study is a complex undertaking that requires a significant investment of time and funds. Team 2020 announced in April that several community partners have come forward to show their support and contribute funds. These four sponsors are: Attawapiskat Resources Inc., the Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board, Goldcorp, and Xstrata.
