Post Secondary Education Options Continue to Grow in Timmins

The Timmins Economic Development Corporation is actively trying to recruit University programs to Timmins. Members of the TEDC met with the University of Sudbury to discuss creating a partnership with Northern College to offer mutually beneficial courses in programs like social work and police foundations.

Northern College offers has partnerships with universities across Ontario including Queen’s, Algoma and Laurentian. Because of these partnerships Northern can offer degree programs in disciplines like nursing, mining and social work.

The City is also working on creating more learning opportunities in Timmins. The City IT department will build a web portal called learn in Timmins. The website will contain links and information about available post secondary education options in Timmins. The website will be similar to the jobs in Timmins website and will be free for users and institutions.
