Timmins Looks to Expand the Mining Sector

Mining in Timmins is a vital part of our economy and diversifying the mining sector lessens our reliance on one particular product or mine. We rely on Gold or base metals for the sustainability of our mines and these metals are subject to cycles of boom and bust.

In order to reduce our reliance on gold The Timmins Economic Development Corporation will secure funding for a 3 year Mining Supply and Industrial Mineral Investment Attraction Regional Project to expand the current mining supply sector and increase development in the industrial mineral sector.  As the mining sector expands in Timmins there is a need for additional supply services. A project like this would not only sustain and support existing mining developments but also attract new investment to Timmins and the area.
