About Cost Reductions
We all know that living in Northern Ontario has lots of advantages: clean air, four distinct seasons, and a backyard full of nature. But there are also some business realities that we must face, one of which is the high cost of travel and distribution. The Cost Reductions project is about is finding creative ways to make it less expensive for businesses and residents to live here.
One of the most commonly requested solutions to this was the suggestion to try to get another airline offering competitive flights to Toronto. As it turns out, The City of Timmins and the Timmins Economic Development Corporation had been working on this for nearly a year, and soon after Timmins 2020 was finalized, Porter Airlines touched down in Timmins. The result has been a drastic reduction in airfares to Toronto.
Project Progress
This project is ongoing. The Porter Airlines example perfectly exemplifies what Timmins 2020 and its various partners are trying to accomplish. There are many ways to reduce input costs. Each partner organization has been and will continue to try to reduct costs for their own members and other stakeholders.
