Project Updates from the TEDC

The TEDC has been conducting numerous studies and doing research for ways to improve Timmins and diversify our economy. Some of the suggestions that they were provided with during consultations was the construction of a Casino and a tire recycling facility. Both of these projects were deemed not feasible in Timmins.

The TEDC applied to have Timmins declared a Casino zone but the province has capped the number of zones at 29, excluding Timmins. Therefore, it is not feasible that Timmins has a Casino.

The TEDC also conducted a preliminary feasibility study on a tire recycling plant. The study concluded that Timmins is not a viable location for such a facility due to insufficient supply.
