A group of representatives from community groups connected to youth engagement in Timmins met the evening of December 5 to further discuss Timmins 2020’s Youth Engagement project. In addition to those who were in attendance at their last meeting, they welcomed representatives of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and the Ministry of Citizenship, as well as someone from a national youth engagement program. The ministry representatives provided information about funding opportunities for the Youth Engagement project.
After discussing various ideas, the group agreed that a youth summit would be an excellent way to bring youth in Timmins together and “give them a voice.” The group is not yet ready to release more information about any such summit, but they will be meeting again in January to continue their discussion.
