Chamber looking for help supporting local businesses

One of Timmins 2020’s five strategic directions stresses the importance of economic diversification. Diversification, in part, relies on local businesses being able to grow and thrive. The Timmins Chamber of Commerce is a major proponent of this direction, and in keeping, is now in search of new members for its Municipal Affairs Committee.

The Municipal Affairs Committee has been around for a number of years, though they’ve existed under different names. Two years ago, it was called the Municipal Vision Committee, and was instrumental in identifying the need for a strategic plan in Timmins. Timmins 2020 was born due, in part, to their advocacy.

Now, the Timmins Chamber of Commerce is seeking new members for its 2012-2013 Municipal Affairs Committee. The committee will “seek to develop advocacy positions that remove barriers to doing business in the city of Timmins, and promote a healthy business climate at the local level.” Interested residents are asked to contact Nick Stewart at (705) 360-1900 or via email at pcdirector@timminschamber.on.ca.
