TIMMINS, ON – Timmins Mayor Tom Laughren wants to make sure that residents have the facts about the investment the City is making in a community brand. “It’s come to our attention that there are some rumours and inaccurate statements circulating about the branding project. The brand is an important investment for our city, and it’s a positive and strategic thing for us to be doing. We think it’s important that people have all the facts about it.”

The idea of a consistent branding message for the City came out of the extensive consultations for the City’s strategic plan, which was developed in 2011. Most cities have brand identities that they use to make their marketing efforts more consistent and effective, and residents, community leaders and business people felt it was time that Timmins had one, too.

“This is a great opportunity to show what our City is all about,” added Laughren. “We can’t forget our heritage in mining and forestry, but we also need to promote the fact that we have much more than that to offer our residents, investors and tourists. That’s what a brand is for.”

A list of Brand Facts will be distributed at the Council Meeting. For more information contact Mayor Tom Laughren, City of Timmins 705-264-1331 tom.laughren@Timmins.ca.
